I am an experienced freediver or spearo. Do I have to take the FII Level 1 Freediver course first, or can I start with FII Level 2?

If you have not completed any formal freediving training, then you need to (and will want to) start with the FII Level 1 Freediver course. Having years of self-taught experience, being able to dive deep, or being able to hold your breath for a long time does not necessarily mean you do not have bad habits or weaknesses in fundamentals that could limit your progression.

The FII Freediving Program is a system in which one level builds upon another. Without a good foundation from previous levels that establishes a common language between the instructor and the student, your valuable training time can easily turns into review of fundamentals. The instructor may refer to drills and skills the student has never heard of or does not know how to execute correctly.

If you are already certified with another freediving agency and would like to continue your training with FII, check out article I am certified with another organization. Can I continue my training with FII?
